‘Sahrani,’ they said. I remember thinking, “Where in the heck is Sahrani?” Apparently it’s an island in the Atlantic Ocean. My first deployment, and I’m on some island nobody I know has ever heard of.
My name is Will Porter and I’m a private in the United States Army. I’m 25, and up until two years ago, I lived in Rhode Island. I’m hoping to use this blog to send greetings to people back home, share what news or information I’m allowed to, and talk about whatever else I think is worth talking about. Maybe, when I can find a good picture of me, I’ll put it up here. I never can find a good one. I’m going to get a digital camera though, hopefully one that takes videos, and then I’ll see what kind of pictures I can take to let everybody know what it’s like here.
I’ll write some blog entries soon, as soon as there’s something interesting enough to write about.
